Quick Estimate: A 2-to-3 day motorcycle tour in western India (such as our 950 km Ahmedabad–Diu loop on a Royal Enfield 650) typically costs approximately ₹9,000 to ₹12,000 for a solo rider—broken down into ~₹3,700 for fuel, ~₹4,000 for boutique coastal stays, ~₹2,200 for food, and a 10% emergency buffer.
While direct one-way GPS navigation between Ahmedabad and Diu is roughly 450 km, our documented solo expedition was a **950 km multi-day loop** through Chotila, Rajkot, the lion territory of Sasangir, Somnath temple coast, and the Portuguese fortress island of Diu before returning via the coastal highway.
Most riders dramatically underestimate touring costs by calculating fuel alone. Fuel is usually only 35% to 45% of the total expense of an overnight motorcycle journey in India. Stays, food, unexpected puncture repairs, and chain lubrication quickly accumulate.
This calculator divides your expedition into five realistic expense buckets:
(Total Distance ÷ Real km/L) × Petrol Price (₹/L). Always use your verified highway mileage, not inflated brochure claims.950 km ÷ 24.5 km/L = 38.77 Litres38.77 L × ₹96.50/L = ₹3,741.31Fuel + Stays + Food + Buffer₹3,741 + ₹4,400 + ₹2,250 + ₹280 + ₹1,067 = ₹11,738When riding in a convoy or tandem group, expenses split unevenly:
